Focusing on one of the world’s great financial centres, the City of London, as the first theme of Article 25’s ‘10×10 Drawing the City London’, 2011 set the beginnings of the annual flagship event. Dividing the city into a 10×10 grid, each piece created for this event by prominent architects and artists, provided commentary and critique on the constantly changing landscape of central London. All of our contributors took to the pavements of London to produce a truly distinctive and dynamic collection, forming a truly unique showcase of British architectural heritage. The resulting works highlighted some of the most beautiful aspects of the City as well as the hidden and forgotten details that are often overlooked. These original artworks documented the changing cityscape of London and were auctioned by Sotheby’s at an exclusive event at the German Gymnasium. This event raised vital funds that allowed Article 25 to complete a vocational training centre in Uganda and begin rebuilding a secondary school in Burkina Faso.
