In 2016, 10×10 is heading to the south London district of Brixton. The theme is ‘100 Translated Spaces’ as we zoom in on one of the most fascinating areas of the capital, famous for its rich history and unique character shaped by a vibrant multi-ethnic community. This year we encourage our participants to shift their focus from the built environment to human interaction to portray the cultural diversity that makes Brixton so special. This is also an opportunity for us all to reflect on the issue of migration, which has invariably dominated our lives in recent times, and celebrate the beauty of different cultures coming together.
Drawing Weekend in Brixton
17-18 September 2016
To launch Article 25’s flagship fundraising event 10×10 Drawing the City London, we will be hosting a Drawing Weekend at two iconic Brixton institutions — the Black Cultural Archives (on Saturday 17th Sep) and the Ritzy Picture House (on Sunday 18th Sep).
Coinciding with the start of the Brixton Design Trail, the Drawing Weekend is an opportunity for all participating artists to visit their square and start work on their piece, as well as a chance to meet and network with other artists, architects and designers contributing to 10×10 Brixton.
There will be a welcome speech by Article 25 at 10.30am on Saturday 17th September, followed by refreshments. Follow the event on Facebook and Twitter #10x10Brixton.
